Hey guys, I just moved here from WA and havent been kiting yet, I see that sunday is forecasted to blow its ass off SW and I wanna get amongst it!! Torquay looks like a great spot on a map and seems like the sorta place there will be some flat water close in north of the point plus some decent waves rolling in aswell?? Does anyone kite there that can give me some info before I drive over there?? Cheers!

Do a search using the words point danger kiteboarding and Look at the first link that appears. Can't post the link here due to forum rules but it details info on the location. It's a great spot.

Other place to check out is Point Henry, Inverloch, Sandy Point and Rosebud. All awesome with the right wind directions

Main danger is the shallow reef at low tide. Other than that, you drive out into the parking lot on the point and pick your launch based on the wind direction.

I 2nd Saff's comment. The place is awesome. There is plenty of sand past the point area and the reef is really only exposed on lower tides. The whole of cosey corner is excellent for surfing and kiting. So enjoy!

It will be tricky to launch at Cosy Corner on a SW, it works better on S to E.
Besides that it great.

The beach get packed in Summer with swimmers, you won't have this issue now but probably best to avoid going there on a hot summer day.

The beach at Fishos is easy to launch on in a SW and it only takes 10 minutes to ride upwind to Pt Danger. It gets a bit crowded in summer but it should be ok this time of year.

Make sure you don't cause the yacht club people any stress.

Yup. My personal opinion is that for a SW, Inverloch is a better alternative for flat water and waves.

Point Danger is a good spot. The point itself creates a wind shadow and turbulence in SW winds so can be a tricky launch especially in high tide. Talk to the locals about launching as through my experience they are always top blokes ready to to give you a bit of local knowledge.
