I was thinking the same thing... Does Altona work in a Westerly ? I see high tide at 9am ..

never kite Altona on westerly. Why ? very gusty and lots of holds on the wind.
for Westerly wind direction you can kite from St kilda any where up to Rosebud

altona is great on Easterly winds direction. if you are a nob go to the APEX park. Why? . At the west end of the beach there is room for errors. At the main beach you have power lines, trees, narrow beach , cars, people and a lot more kites on the air.
