Have been keen to get to inverloch for a kite for a while now, havent been before.

Whats the consensus on tomorrows forecast? Im looking at melbourne's prediction, is there a closer forecast that other use? Im guessing Inverloch is ok for anything W>S>E.

I'd personally use this forecast. www.bom.gov.au/vic/forecasts/centralcoast.shtml

North to northwesterly 20 to 30 knots shifting west to southwesterly 20 to 30 knots around the middle of the day, then becoming southwesterly 15 to 20 knots during the evening.

Easterly tends to be the best direction down there for Anderson Inlet. The South Westerly would be kiteable, but not amazing. With that forecast I'd probably just kite in the south eastern suburbs somewhere. Brighton, or somewhere between Seaford and Mount Martha.

*My opinion anyway.

Hey buddy forecast for inverloch looks great- going to head down after it settles probably at about 2:30.
Easterly can be hit and miss down there at the inlet, but south westerly is a dream; it's when everyone turns up and there is a school down there that teaches too when the conditions are like that.
Great spot for beginners if it settles like it should, seabreeze should aid this. Launch from down past the pier- there's an open car park that everyone starts from. Hope to see you there ;)

Thanks Guys...after hearing so much about the place if the forecast turns out as good as it says i'll make the trip.

Is a SW'er cross shore or cross off from the launching beach in the inlet?

Not a beginner...just hanging out for a good session and want to make good use of the day off work + winds.

It's cross on shore. Yes westerlies are gusty because you get wind pockets and shadow because of the heads.
Dint trust the pound creek wind reading for inverloch- it's usually windier than what it's reading. But all indications say tomorrow will be a pearler- 23 degrees south west 23-25 kts from lunch easing slowly.
At low tide there can be more sand than water so careful of the sand bars ;) but if you're not a beginner you should be able to stay up wind with chop or waves (further out) or play in the flat water close to the launch area.
Look on google earth, just east of the inverloch pier is the launch area (at the fishing club)- forecast conditions will be prime.

Also watch out for the sandbar that goes right across the channel just east of the sailing club when the tide drops. If you have a board with fins (race or surf) it is a real hazard. This sandbar seems to be more prominent now that this channel is not the main one for the inlet.

Good luck with the wind. The southerly change has just hit South Channel gusting up to 35 knots.

It was awesome. Was overpowered to the max on my 10 the whole time. One other guy out, then when I was leaving one guy was hitting it off and boosting on his 7. Some great flatwater on low tide with that big sand bar. Blue skies and sun, and didn't drop below 24kts the whole arvo. Should take sick (kite) days more often

Had a great session on my 8m...had to wait until about 4:30 as it was 30+ before that...Ended up kiting on the front (surf) beach and had a ball hitting the kickers.

What time were you there from Gippy, must have just missed you, was waiting at the inlet until about 4 or so then moved to the front beach.

hey mate, yeh i had a sick session. I literally would have missed you by minutes, I was on the water at the inlet by 4:30- kited all the way up the inlet (making pissy little tacks cause of the sand bars) got to the heads, and saw someone launching at the inlet so came back and played in there till about 7! was massively buzzed on my 10m. What's the verdict? good spot?
