Hi from Ireland .... Melbourne winds from April??

Hi all ... am brand new to the forum .. and am saying hi from windy .. but not so warm or sunny Ireland..

Just one quick question ...
I'm arriving in Melbourne at the start of April .. and am just wondering if I can expect some wind there then?? ..

There is wind pretty much all year around. The winter winds are gustier and its obviously colder but there is still wind. Just bring a 4/3 or 5/4 wetsuit if you have one.

BTW, colder is probably not winter cold like Ireland. Its about 5 degrees.

Great .. thanks for the info .. a 5/4 wetsuit is no problem .. have to wear them all year round here!!

I get through the middle of winter in Melbourne with a 4/3 and booties.
April is pretty much the end of the summer season, but we still get decent southerly wind. The awesome winter northerlies don't kick in till about July.

what do u mean the northlies doesn't start untill july i've had loads of seshs in april/may on northly and they not nearly as gusty as the winter ones

btw if ur stupid like me u can get away wiv boardies until mid may

Oh yeah, any time all year round you can catch a northerly at the southern end of the bay but it's not until July that the crazy gusty winter northerlies really kick in. ;)
You know the ones that you get the double/triple gusts during a boost. :D

Wind is pretty good, ull be on a 7-9m kite most of the time. im fine in a 3/2 wettie all winter with no booties or gloves, its really not that cold. rosebud is epic, u shld def try kite there heaps
