Not to parrot what was already asked in the main (IE WA) forum, but...

Is this it for the seabreezes this season?

I think with the exception of a few strong fronts which will come through from time to time the consistent seabreezes(or what we had of them) are over. I found this season to be really frusturating.

After a bad week at work today at work I kept looking at the wind report all day hoping something will show up. Arrived at altona at 6pm. I mow the lawn for about 45 minutes. Yes there is a bit of sea-breeze left.
gear NRG 16 meter on a 145x45 cardboard.
The NRG is for sale

I was looking at a 17m contra in desperation, better just to lay off for a bit face it the seabreezes are gone but the wind will always come, how much do big kites ever get used?

I had a 16m crossbow. used it once. once was enough not to want to ever do it again.

here in Melbourne not much. I purchased a 16 meter October 2013. I kite as much as possible. I have used it 15 times in 6 months. I use my 10. 12 and 14 more often. cheers

Depends how keen you are with regard large kites......my 14 is nice in light winds especially on a 160 board. Water is flatter too. Bring on winter.....less kiters.

Yeah I'm not ready to put the gear away yet. Absolutely chomping at the bit.

What's the traditional winter weather pattern like? Blows hard? To cold to make it enjoyable?

late session today. The wind picked up to 12 knots after 6 pm. On my 14 meter + 11 feet SUP. I kite Fri and Sunday this weekend. Just mowing the lawn. Until the next weekend.

+ booties and beanie/helmet if you want to do a longer session in 10deg wind/10deg water
Massive sudden changes in windspeed and direction, rig for gusts. Check BOM marine before going out, look at radar for squall lines. Dark low hanging clouds approaching fast? Make sure you get back to the beach before it hits and don't go for the "one last tack". :-)
There is a very good sticky on top of the VIC section giving tips on winter kiting.
