KBV has benefitted from the valuable commitment of volunteers and has achieved some fantastic outcomes since its inception. It has however been guided by the Committee-of-the-day with a lack of consistency from year-to-year as Committee members come and go.

With the rapid growth of the sport and the changing role of KBV as an organisation it has become important that KBV have a plan moving forward and therefore the KBV Committee is initiating a Strategic Planning Process.

Click here [s]broke://www.kbv.org.au/kbvsp/100526-SPP-Overview.pdf[/s] for the Strategic Process Planning Overview of what this is all about.

Without adequate planning, KBV frequently deals only with immediate problems and fails to consider future needs.
Planning will enable KBV to:
* become proactive rather than reactive
* to clarify organisational purposes and direction
* initiate and influence more outcomes in favour of KBV and its members
* exert more control over where it wants to be in the future
* adopt a more systematic approach to change and reduce resistance to change
* improve financial performance and use resources effectively
* improve organisational control and coordination of activities

The strategic planning process is meant to be inclusive of all stakeholders of the organisation. As a member (or potential member) you have the right to suggest initiatives you think are appropriate. These can be structural (constitutional, committee composition, etc), regulatory (what role you want to see KBV assuming regarding rules and regulations and cooperating with authorities, agencies, and councils) or related to activities you would like to see KBV planning and running for kiters.

Please take a few moments to read through the Strategic Process Planning Overview and let us know what you believe KBV should be doing and how we should be achieving our goals.

You can email us at [email protected] or make your online submission here: http://www.kbv.org.au/kbvsp

The current Treasurer of KBV Campbell King will steer the process with the assistance of the current KBV Committee. Campbell is an accountant and has experience in small medium, and large businesses including formal and informal restructuring engagements. He is thus familiar with planning and the importance of it to any organisation.

The deadline for submissions is the end of June 2010.

The strategic planning process will be open and transparent with all documentation to be made available for review on the KBV website at the appropriate time.

We look forward to your participation

Just some clarification as to what this is all about:

We know there are lots of challenges facing the sport - what we dont know is WHICH ISSUES you think we should address and WHAT you think we should DO about them - access, regulation, social and competitive scene, expansion of the sport and the skills, etc.

Also what would you personally be prepared to undergo in support of the sport and its longevity??

We seek your input on solutions - we know there are issues.

Questions we ask in the submission:

WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST WE DO?
Clearly describe the aim of your suggestion.

HOW WILL KITING OR KITERS BENEFIT?
Clearly describe the benefits of what you suggest

WHO SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE?
Should this be a KBV, external or combined effort?

IF IT COSTS MONEY WILL YOU BE PREPARED TO CONTRIBUTE?
Suggest how finances could be raised to support it.

Just a late reminder that the strategic planning deadline for submission is end of June.

Contrary to what the SPP Overview states, we ARE interested in submissions from non-members and anyone who believes their thoughts would be of value to KBV and the sport in general - there are many members who will sponsor your submissions.
