short answer: kiting of any sort, and especially when you start to jump, places significant stress on your knees. can you do 20 full squats at high speed and run fast without discomfort? if so you may be ok if in doubt, don't.

longer answers can be found by searching the endless knee-related threads in the general kitesurfing forum.

You seriously only need to cycle once a week to build up your knee's?
I've never had a problem with my knee's until this season, oddly enough when i stopped cycling about 12 months ago! Looks like i'll have to get the pushy back out to get my knee's in better shape.

So sorry didnt mean to shout lol. Sleek1 in answer to where I am, I am in Frankston area, how about you?
I just cant do the bike thing as my knee wont do the full round on the peddel, so I tend to cycle 1 legged, then I nearly fall off as I am laughing so much at my self.
Hey but what the hell, I love life and I get out of life as much as I can put in.
Thanks again all of you guys and or gals for your input.

Na in gippsland mate.Try heading into shq and have a chat with some kite dudes in thier.Or maybe R.P.S and talk to them.Make sure the guys you are talking to are Kiters.Ivan is the guy at shq or either Warrick or Warren(cant remember exact name) at rps and tell them your dilema. Its easy for me to say give it a go but without knowing your exact moveability its kinda hard to say weather its for you.

Hey Dj. There is a big difference between a Knee replacement and a reconstruction. Knee replacements are not designed for impact activity and the more you do with it, the faster it will wear out. There is also the risk of fracturing the poly. If you take it easy then Kiteboarding should be fine but the fact you can't cycle a full rotation yet means you might need a bit more physio first. Kudos for wanting to give it a try but you probably should be discussing this with your surgeon rather than with the forum at large.

lunges!
basically you want to build up the muscles around your knee, like the quadricep to keep it all in place.
