Hey folks

I have been flying a training kite at Brighton Beach for the last few months and am now getting my butt into gear and going to take lessons. I have been told mixed stories from a couple of people and would like some opinions from you guys who are out there on the water. Where is the best place to learn to kite surf? Who, where, prices, hire gear?

Ok, I'm going to buy a second hand kite for my first season. What would you guys/girls suggest I look at for a first kite?
I am 5'7" around 80kgs... Any suggesions? Someone said I should start on a 12m kite?

Thanks

G'day Harry Potter,

Thanks for this link, I will check them out. I am planning to have my first lesson this coming weekend.

One more thing... Would it be better to buy new or second hand gear as a beginner? What are the people thoughts on this?

Buy second hand for a first kite.
Significantly cheaper and you won't cry as much if you trash it.

Once you've learnt to kite and you know what sort of kites you prefer then you can demo around and buy one new perhaps for your second season.

Thanks for your thoughts Koma,

I was sorta leaning towards buying second hand gear, but was in two minds about it, new or used?? I think you are right in saying I won't cry as much if I trash my first kite. I suppose it'll be half the price - half the emotions.

I hope to see you guys on the water some time very soon.

Thanks again

Hi Jim and others - just wanted to clarify that KBV do not run lessons or endorse any schools. If you wish to know of a number of schools that operate in the area please contact KBV via their website.
