More reports flooding in from hotspot St Kilda - as yet no sibstantial information but we heard about a kite "up a tree" and another wrapped around a yacht mast. All this in the past few days - what a great start to the new year.

Ive been kiting there the last few days, didnt see any of those incidents. However, i was constantly informing beginners on keeping away from the wall and correct procedures on launching. For someone who has spent the last few years in St kilda it is pretty obvious to me how many more beginners are now at this beach. (larger percentage of beginners, more incidents) Dont get me wrong, its a good thing to have more people coming into the sport, but are there too many schools operating out of there? seems to be 3 or 4 currently. Who came up with this number being viable? None of us want to lose our beaches!
Hey, ive got an idea... Lets get a few more kite schools down there, then there will be more instructors to teach these budding kiters how to be safe, no one will have to miss out a lesson
The way I see it, we have about 2 years before the council starts bans. The kiddies pond will be first and then the ban will be extended outward as the behaviour continues.
