If this a yet ANOTHER school at West Beach then we dont want to have to go through the crowded beach issues again - how will Katani work in with the agreement the schools have with the kiters???????

Chill. We have been doing lessons at West Beach for the last few years.
We have one instructor on at a time and that's why you haven't noticed us.

I thought Katani weren't licensed to instruct and were only allowed to "demo" equipment with customers or have you got your license from the council now?

On TOPIC_ID=62795 JW told Craggers:

Liquor Licence finally came through this week so you can now get a cold one at West Beach Bathers Pavilion.

Methinks there is some confusion here.....

That was my understanding too.

No license means that any students (and probably any of us too if we are hit by a student flying through the air) are not covered in the event of an accident - insurance companies being the foxes they are will use any excuse to avoid payouts - and lack of permission to be at a location where there is an accident is an absolute trump card. It would be RECKLESS & NEGILGENT of any company to offer lessons without appropriate permission.

If Katani cannot show proof of a license - and answer the question by SingSong above re working in with the agreement we have - then we need to do something.... We got the agreement with the schools by collective action so we can and do have a voice....

We were at the meeting at West Beach and took it all in. We have insurance cover and are right to do lessons.
We are not looking to crowd the beach further but our one instructor is not always available.

The answer is midgets.You could have 5 midgets doing lessons in the same area that 1 average size instructor would take up.

You don't answer the question. Do you have council approval to do lessons?

Great - progress is being made - you say you were there but DO YOU AGREE to adhere to the circulation pattern, and to the right-of-way corridor that the other schools give non-students and agree to move your water-practice and body-dragging to the agreed area. Yes/No - easy choice.

If you have a permit to instruct why are you not listed on the KBV site which states that all you need to do is show them your permit and insurance details?? Maybe KBV care to comment???

Great - then he SHOULD be able to answer some of the simple questions posed here???? Lack of answer or willingness to discuss can be taken in the negative - on that basis Katani are not willing to work within the agreement, and dont have a licence to operate anyway???? There is so far no proof or dispute to the contrary.

Wow singsong talk about hijacking a thread, they ask for expressions of interest for an instructor position and you start scrutinising their right to do business.

I think you guys are getting agro a bit too easily. Do you really think a business that is primarily a retail shop would actively get it's main client base (presumably local kiters) off side by flouting local rules and regulations?

no one hijacking a thread or getting agro - you might just be missing the point.
Just think about it this way - if you recommend a school to a friend, on what basis would you make the recommendation??

* Price
* Location
* Experience
* Insurance cover
* Concern for local safety issues (including other kiters and beachgoers)
* Protecting students (against themselves mainly ) but also limiting student liability in the event of an inadvertant accident

Or maybe not??
