Anyone interested (weather permitting 17+ SW) in doing an endurance crossing Mordialloc-Port Melbourne (30k). If conditions are not great for Sat maybe Sunday.

PM to organize, I was thinking in the morning at around 10.

With the right wind direction and strength I would say 2 to 3 hrs. We attempted before in a straight westerly for Anzac day and half way through the conditions did not allow to continue...we had to stop in the middle (Sandringham) and beg for a lift back to one of the cars.

This is about the length of the English channel so, I want to get comfortable with that distance so I can beat Sir R. Branson son!. The guy broke the Guinness Record being the fastest to do the crossing...

Come on guys!

Definitely up for this - though my wind forecast tells me a little later in the day will be better. Pete, Tarren and I did a bay crossing in summer (www.peterskiteboarding.com/2012/01/port-phillip-bay-crossing-hampton-to.html), big fan of epic trips. I'll PM you.

Yep - ended up just south of Altona. Our initial plan was to have a bit of a rest - but it smelt pretty bad so we turned around and came back.
We've done Seaford up to Brighton and quite a few Beaumauris to Hampton and beyond too - the next big one is down to Mornington from Beaumauris or so. Waiting for the right wind and maybe a little bit warmer temperatures.

Cesar, can't believe you cheating on me while I am down the west coast. You better be up for it again. The real story for those actually interested is that we attempted this one six days after I tore a hamstring (not kite related). I don't know what I was thinking but you know how it is. I was crying like a girl at 10ks in. Long walk back to the car. Lucky for a tradie surfer who drove Caesar the 10 k back to mordy.

Looks like this weekend will be dedicated to practice kite racing in RYE. Definitely on Sunday, possibly Sat also. But looks like tomorrow thinks are looking good enough to annoy some cyclist by parking my car on beach rd in Brighton in the morning.
