HI Melbourne - I'm moving out to Melbourne from the UK for good, and want to bring some kit with me. My local kitesurfing shop gave me the tip to ask on a forum what manufacturers people are using in Vic, and also the size of kite that is best fitting the conditions in Melbourne. Any tips about kit for the conditions would be great. Ps pretty new to the sport so be kind. Thanks. Ian

I'm about 74kg, and ride a Cabrinha Switchblade IDS 10m and a 135cm board - it does me for all conditions here. I typically go out from 15knots through to around 25 knots.

Depending on your weight, most people tend to get by with a primary kite of around 12m. People will get pretty religious about brands, but most of the kites I see around are Cabrinha, Slingshot, North and Naish.

Best of luck with the move and hope you enjoy the conditions here.

Tend to agree. Two kite quivers are generally around 12/9 for 80kg riders, some riders get 12m as a one kite quiver because majority of summer wind ranges from about 15 up to 25 which is covered by both the 10 or 12 depending on how you like to ride.

Brands are open here. There are plenty of brands around so you can get spares for almost every brand including Best, North, Naish, Cabrinha, Slingshot, Liquid Force etc but some are definitely more dominant than others and the brands tarzan listed about are the most common.
