Anyone know why the launch zones changed in Altona? Is it the powerlines? Will they turn a blind eye or will we have to launch at the other spot?

edit: For anyone wanting to have a look at the new revision of proposed zone changes, it's available here...

Altona - launching from the south end isn't the easiest or safest thing to do as there is hardly any beach (2-3m in most places), and when it's low tide you've got a 400m walk out over the sludge to get to the water. Who ever made these recommendations needs a reality check as there is no way you can launch and land everyone who normally kites Altona in that little tiny area! Silly and dangerous attempting to.
Also, the power lines extend right the way down to their proposed launching area - so perhaps it's not the power lines.

St Kilda - Umm.... i know their trying to be definitive but the zone they've allocated for kiting is pretty much half the pond and the newbie/school kamikaze bodydrag area.

Rye - That's a f'n tiny little zone they've allocated.

I guess it all comes down to the fact that when it's windy enough for kiters to be on the beach, it's usually not sunbathing or playing with kiddies in the water time. If only there was some allowance for that.
