Howdy. I'm new and embarrassingly unskilled. I learned with GoKite (great school) and have been a couple of times since my lessons to St Kilda but my closest beach is Edithvale/Carrum. I can't find any information on the beaches for rules or safety information about that area. Can anyone give some advice on the beaches down there for beginners?
Cheers.

The general rules for safety and etiquette apply universally - have a look at the section on the KBV web site - pretty wide coverage.
As for local rules, we dont know of any restrictions other than for lessons. Suggest making contact with some of the Edithvale locals and getting their local info.

w1nta,
there are scattered beaches used by kitesurfers along the coast between Frankston and Mentone. Frankston, Carrum, Aspendale or Mentone are some of them.. where you're likely to meet other kitesurfers who can help you out and assist you for launching and landing. As we have very nice seabreeze days + holidays at the moment, there are more people kitesurfing on that stretch of coast right now but beaches are also crowded, so stay away from the other users of the beach.
Because the beach are pretty narrow and you are a beginner I would recommend to ride around low tide there, wider beach and shallower water. Mentone at lower tide would be the ideal I think.
safe riding !
