Noticed yesterday arvo that the council have put up permit/two hour parking on the far side of Beaconsfield Parade where it was previously unrestricted. Now it's almost impossible to find free parking for more than two hours. I'd just like to thank the council for becoming even more unfriendly to kiters. Cheers.

I agree this is annoying. I dare say the residence along Beaconsfield Parade appreciate the restriction. And this restriction affects hurts all beach goers (Especially kiters with our 1hr and 45min rigging/de-rigging time,... or is this just me).

Agree. It will be for the GP. Usually taken down a couple of weeks after GP.

Next time you see locals hanging off their balcony along the esplanade, offer them a 6 pack and a copy of their rates notice. Then go to council and get a parking permit. Easy peasy.

Need to have documentation to validate you live at the address which includes a rego or insurance information so not that easy. I live in the area so I've had to provide this in the past.

"Resident / Combined / Foreshore Permits: Each application requires one piece of Vehicle Identification and EITHER one piece of Property Identification (Primary), OR two pieces of Property Identification (Secondary)."

I never would of imagined St Kilda to be a place for kitesurfing? Is this only recent?

Oh Sunni, you and your countrybumpkin ways... yes, it turns out after they removed the seaweed, hypodermic needles and the homeless people (who have currently set up camp in the bushes next to kitebeach) there was water under it all along.

I say water... it's stripped my new wetsuit of colour in about 15 sessions... and there are numerous three eyed fish (like at the start of simpsons).

But yes, water all the same.

HA, does the smell of an oil refinery leach into you skin like Point Henry? that stuff is rancid.

What I wouldn't give for the smell of an oil refinery ...

St. K smelt like a blocked stale drain yesterday. I take some solace in knowing that given I only unblocked my drain the day before, it's probably my own filth I'm sloshing around in. Karma, right there...

If its any consolation, I think i read somewhere that Alcoa is leaving Australia, so Point Henry will probably stop making you smell like an oil refinery.
