Anyone know why? Not really usual for them to do this.

I have had a police chopper hovering above me a couple of times while at south Ricketts and had to lower my kite as they were that close above me (this is well before Farks Vic put in the signs) not sure what they were doing. sometimes they do speed checks on cars on beach road but they were not much higher than my kite... could get ugly if I was a beginner holding a kite at 12 o'clock.

They were a few hundred meters out on the water, hovered for a while then did a couple of laps and back to hover again. I was down at Lorne when similar thing happened recently and it was a shark (not that I'm saying it was). They were about 100meters in the air so no danger to kiters but was weird. Maybe it was checking speed just seemed strange.
