Hi Guys,
I'm going to be in Melb for a week next week, and thought of bringing my kiting gear.
Can anyone recommend an easily accessible spot (I will be relying on Public Transport).

Also, I normally ride an 11m and a 9m up to 30-35 knots.

If I were to take but one kite, which should it be?

(Are the wind readings accurate - they look very variable ATM).

Cheers,

A.

St kilda is easy to get using public transportation and take the 11 meter. Also Altona but a bit of a walk from the train station.
weekends are BUSY both spots. Don't leave your staff on the beach, it will be on gum tree the next day.
cheers

yes St. Kilda is the place but it is quite crowded.
You can also hopp on the train and go to Seaford, Carrum, Cheltenham or Edithvale. Nice beaches, less people and you could even do a downwinder back to the city or to the next train station along.
check the map and you will see what i'm talking about.

Just for the record... St Kilda is indeed crowded... inside the rather breakwater/marina. You could always sail outside....

Thanks a lot guys! Everything you've said seems really useful!
Is there anything else I need to know about the forecasts , is it generally on after 2pm like one poster above says?
In Syd at the moment it's generally between 20 and 25, or 30 if windy.

the zu boardsports have a cam pointing right onto the beach, if I really want to check beyond the wind readings I'll use it, I've also seen some pretty ridiculous kite crashes while day dreaming if I can't make it down
