Does anyone have a reliable live wind source for Rosebud or Rye?

Sometimes taking a few off South Channel works, but more often it doesn't.

ryeweather.com.au/ is great but the info is often out of date, it is stuck on 8:30pm last night at the moment.

Any others?

Thanks

You really only have the SC reading and those two yacht club ones to make your choice from. Other than that ring the the crew at Peninsular Kiteboarding, they are only opposite the grassed area at Rosebud and just about see the water from the front counter, should be able to give you a good up date.

Im a firm believer that you take 5 knots from the SC marker reading. According to the BOM the gauge is approx 15m above sea leave
and the winds always seem to be stronger up higher.

Hi Guys, we have now fixed the problem with the weather station, which was that the power keeps failing in the area, for just a brief period, but causing the desktop to stop. We have since installed an IBM Laptop which has a battery life of >3hrs and so has been up and running for the last month without any issues. We have installed this and the cameras towards and pier and Capel Sound so you can also view the water conditions.
We hope that this will now be helpful and provide what you are looking for.

Hey deanRobi, aren't the south channel readings taken from the Fort?

Thanks PPK, can you change units on the charts? Would be great to have knots shown.

Mmmm maybe, I went to a presentation by the BOM at Kite Republic one night and after asking similar questions to this thread the presenter explanation was that it was situated up high on the SC marker rather than the island, might need to question the BOM

Probably not that important, but BOM site says it is on the South Channel Island, which is also known as the South Channel Fort in the picture ( Lat: -38.31 Lon: 144.80) and is outside the shipping channel.

The South Channel Pile, (deanrobi's picture) is about 4 km away and closer to Rye.
