Just another sharing the stoke thread.

Rosebud was pumping this morning after a light start to proceedings.

I would estimate maybe 50-70 kites up ranging in size from 8 -13.

Avg windspeed was in low 20s but up around 30 several times an hour.

There was a lot of traffic through the middle will plenty of newer riders taking the chance to battle the gusty northerly (which kicked in around 9.30). I'm only a year or so in - apologies to the more experienced riders that had take evasive action when I was out of control at times. The tide was coming in and there were some nice little waves to jump around on out the back; but also a lot of wobbly leg chop to contend with.

I crashed a lot as I'm not used to the conditions there. One time I got pulled right out of my footstraps which was kind of fun although I lost my board for about 10 minutes which wasn't.

Ended up staying for close to 4 hours until I was so cold and tired I could barely stand up on the board.

I really like sessions like that where you give the sea and the wind pretty much everything you've got

Monday is looking like a small kite afternoon and conveniently is my ADO so in the words of Arnie, Rosebud beach "I'll be back"

Good day at Rosebud. I chose an 11m and struggled from 9-10am but was perfect thereafter.

I grabbed someone's board for them. I think the kiter was wearing a helmet.

Managed to slice my wetsuit in the process and cut my arse. I think the board's fins had been professionally sharpened!

Hey Macster I think I saw you doing that !

Getting someones board when they are struggling to do it themselves is a very classy thing to do IMO.

As I understand it, upwind body dragging for board retrieval isn't emphasized enough in the standard 6 hours of lessons provided by schools, so it be pretty stressful for the new kiter when they have to figure out the required actions in deep water with the wind blowing.

Saying it was still a good day despite being the cut to both butt and wetsuit is such a classic comment!

You're bringing back good memories for me! All my best sessions when I started out where at rosebud as well. I loved the real winter sessions there. Just a few other desperadoes hanging out on the beach waiting out the lulls. Always a friendly crew. And the fact that most people have driven an hour to get there means you go into knowing you'll be there till the very end
