Hi guys, I was looking for some advice about the suitability of Rosebud for a session tomorrow. It sounds like there's loads of room to work with and my kite (10m) seems ok for the forecasted wind? I've had a few lessons and am up and riding for short distances downwind - had about 6 sessions on my own and feel generally in control of kite through the wind window now. Haven't been able to get out for weeks and am really itching to get back on my board and get some longer practice runs in maybe work on going upwind a bit too..confidence is still developing but I already know this sport is something I really want to do more of!

G'day bfg
Rosie is awesome
you will have to be wary of the trees though
better if you set up on the beach than on the grass
or if you want some space go down to section 14 it's about a k towards rye with a big beach and no trees

see ryeweather.com.au/ for pictures and wind report
Tomorrow Saturday the wind direction is west. It is not the wind direction for Rosebud. Tomorrow you can kite anywhere from St Kilda to Seeford.

cheers

Today was a learning experience - I learned to listen to the locals and NOT launch when the wind is too strong for my kite . Most of the guys were having a real good time on 6s and one or two 8s. WAY too much wind for my 10. Still had fun watching some jumps, having a chat to one or two people; and day was not completely wasted as now I know the area and where to kite for next time.

Thanks especially to the instructor from the kite shop down there that convinced me to take the sensible wait and see option (and also for the offer of a free coffee). There will be other days and once I get a few more sessions in, will think about a smaller kite.

Had the best session all year today on my 9.
That was until I grabbed an edge and ripped my foot out of its socket!
Man I love my bindings but damn they suck when you bite the dust!

Epic session though!

Hi BFG, I think I chatted to you on the grass as you were packing up. Definitely a good choice - sucks to not go out when the wind is up, but definitely the safer and saner option.

I'm 88kg or so and was comfortably powered and boosting on my 8m kite.

Like suniboy I had an awesome session. If winter is going to be like this, then I'm all for it!
