Re: St Kilda Marine Development:
Notice to all Kiters who use this area.
Parks Victoria is insisting that all Kiters MUST stay 20m away , either side, of the sand road truck access . Heavy fines will be enforced. ps up to maximum of $6000!!! so don't push your luck!!! ps part of the reason for this was a kiter observed jumping this sand road!!! There is plenty of area to Kite around this area so please keep the required distance. Thank you

Could you please post the source of this information? I can't remember seeing any notices there and I'm unable to find any information regarding this on the Parks Website.

Cheers

They can quite easily apply this if they really want to so I wouldn't complain about the 20m:

From the standard laws while operating any vessel within the bay:

A speed limit of 5 knots (8kph) applies on all waters:
- within 50m of swimmers, other vessels and fixed or floating structures
- within 100m of divers/divers' flag

- 50m from a wharf, jetty, slipway, diving platform or boat ramp.

Inland waters
- 50m from the water's edge

Hi,

This direction from Parks Vic has come after a meeting was called last week to discuss the Marine Development and kiters / Boats / SUPs use of the area while the work is going on. While there are broader rules and regulations as Saffer points out for vessels (which includes kiters), this is a new directive for kiters. This will be followed up by signage in the next few weeks, but for now please stay the mandated distance away from the works.

For any queries or questions on this, you can reach out to us at KBV either at our email address or facebook page.

Thanks,
Derek

Hi All,

Regards the 20m exclusion zone. It should be noted that some wanted the exclusion zone to be very much greater than 20m's either side and also to cover a boarder water area. I am personally very pleased with the continuing positive collaboration between RMYS, Parks Vic , and City of Port Phillip, that has resulted in just this 20 m zone.

Regards Rick at KBV

So if you could boost 60m in length 20m in height should be sweet ?[}:)]

Or less than 5 knots so make sure any videos posted are in slow motion so it looks like you're not breaking the 5 knot rule :p
