That would be fantastic and a bigger lagoon potential from the sidewalk all around to the rocky rocks! It would make kiting there a mecca all over the world, if not already.

...yeah, if you manage to ignore the storm drain that leads right into the lagoon turning St. Kilda into a giant septic tank every time it rains.

A few things:

- the wide median strip only runs for 800m. You could only do the park thing up as far as Langridge St.

- Beaconsfield Pde is 6 lanes, not 4. It probably makes a difference to the locals whether they have 6 continuous lanes on their doorstep vs 3 and 3 with grass in between.

- You could have just said "move the median strip and turn it into a park" rather than make us look at a presentation on Prezi. It's slow to download and you need to download an app on an ipad. The presentation doesn't add anything useful to the idea.

- it might improve the flow and mix of pedestrian/bike/car mix to have more room for the peds and bikes away from cars.

Terrible Idea, Where would kiters park,or anyone else for that matter, Unless your 4 lanes doesn't include the current peak hour clearway lane...

Updated presentation to be more specific, thanks.

In summary:
same amount of lanes remain. Just moved to one side of the road.
same amount of parking as all the lanes remain intact.

Need an App on Ipad

Its flash based so Nuthn i can do about that i'm afraid.

The presentation was necessary as i'm sending it to the council. I think a picture tells a thousand words.

An 800m park sounds pretty sweet to me :) Also i would suggest closure of Pier road (except gov't vehicles etc) and make it gravel expanding Katani gardens.

this would mean the park would run 2300m :) all the way from st.kilda west beach to st.kilda marina.
