Victorian State Titles - Results
The State Titles were held on Sunday the 22nd of November a dubious start of the day with heavy rain and wind up to 40 knot winds.
We had a fantastic turn-out of competitors (Mens: 16, Juniors: 8, Womens: 2, Masters: 8) and supporters which made the event a success and one of the best events we have held to date.
Aonther noteworthy point was the largest ever entry numbers for the Juniors division which is showing growing potential each year.
The reults in brief:
Men: Ewan Jaspan (winner),Sebastian Maupas (runner up)
Women: Natalie Clarke (winner), Eda Attiok (runner up)
Junior: Ewan Jaspan, Lincoln Reeves (runner up)
Masters: Richard Milne (winner), Scott Fleming (runner up)
Ewan Jaspan took out the final and has therefore qualified for the Nationals. The Men's Open had some great rounds and shoot outs with great performances by many of the entrants, but Ewan shined and nailed all of his tricks to take out the event.
The Women's Open only had two entrants which was disappointing considering the early interest in the event. Special mention must go to Eda who entered with little kiting experience and we admired her effort to compete. Natalie Clarke is our Women's Champion for 2009, impressive as always.
The Master's was a lot of fun and it was a close call and Richard (Kaos) Milne took out the event. Unfortunately the Big Air competition was unable to be run due to the lack of wind.
KBV would like to thank Kite Republic for sponsoring the Men's Open event, GoKite for sponsoring the Big Air Comp and OFFSHORE for sponsoring the Juniors event.
We would also like to thank all of the competitors and volunteers - without all of you the event would not have been the success that it was. A special mention to Nic Hauf for supplying the Judges Bus which made the day for the competition once again, and to M.C. Paul Cousins for his running commentary.
We look forward to seeing everybody at future events and in particular at the Australian Kitesurfing Nationals to be held in February in conjunction with the St Kilda Festival.
