On shore, gusty wsw wind is not great for beginners.

If you can't comfortably ride up wind, and you spend most of your time with your kite at 12 you shouldn't be out.

Not only is it dangerous for you, It's pretty annoying for anyone who can ride properley. Every 50 meters you have to dodge another kite or tack back the other way. Kind of frustrating.

And I know I could go right out the back away from every one, but let's face, in that wind direction the best place to be is within 50 meters of the shore.

End of rant

Hmm Funny that the Kiddie pool was neigh on empty.
what do you expect when you kite in the teaching and beginners area???

at most there were 10 - 12 people out.

Get over it mate and kite a little further across towards port melbourne.

A good kiter would move around and manage to avoid the beginners.
you were there once yourself, give the others the chance.

I don't think there were that many issues with beginners. Part of the problem was the experienced riders who were riding 5 meters from shore instead of heading upwind. I managed to get upwind on an 8m (80kg's) so when a lot of the problems were happening the wind was strong enough. Only about 2 people headed upwind with me.

The kiddies pond was gusty and light due to the wind direction. Tried it there, wasn't fun.

Who was the person riding all the way into the yachts when the wind was dying? Not the smartest thing I've seen.

I saw a girl nearly get her face cut off from a wayward kite very lucky she got away with a few cuts could have been so much worse the line caught her across the face as she was walking along the beach her friend is a Kiter so she seemed to take it pretty well

I saw a dark guy riding an old north crashing/tangling kite on female rider; not a single apologie or pulling the safety to stop the kites being dragged away. an hour later almost crushed hit her again. lucky for him, her boyfriend (twice his size) was (altough ungry) polite enough...

message to take home, please people work on your 'kiting courtesy', specially when you are learning.
