Couldn't get more excited every time I hear news about the
www.melbournecablepark.com/If you never tried cable parks, I can tell you it's very similar to that initial excitement when you first discovered kitesurfing...
Highly recomended to any keen kiter...Cable goes hand in hand with kitesurfing... and each sport compliments the other one perfectly. The best thing about cable is obstacles... which most of the time you don't get while kitesurfing or wakeboarding.
Kitesurfing is a great sport when the wind is perfect. But the weather and the forecasts are all so unpredictable, and inconsistent, and this often makes kitesurfing quiet frustrating... (unlike cable which is guaranteed and predictable). For example you have all this expensive gear sitting in your garage, but in all honesty how many days in any given year you really get to use it properly? And i'm not talking about rubbish 12 knot days, nor crazy 40 knot storm winds... i'm talking about that perfect consistent wind range where you can execute tricks with ease and actually progress...
And then there is the long dredful autumn and winter with hardly any good winds.
In terms of the cold Melbourne weather, I don't see that beeing a huge issue either. Put a 3/4 wettie on and you'll be fine. I've ridden cable in Sydney in the middle of winter on very cold days. Sure it was pretty cold, but with a wettie it was still awesome and worth it...
