Hi all

First time poster long time follower here.

I just go back from 2 weeks of staying at 1770 qld, learning how to kite was my main goal so I stayed with the kite school there. Fantastic people and great fun. Kiting every day.
Constant wind and big surf, and some secret flat water lagoons :)
Some scary moments with 26 knots and 2.3 m swell.
Can't wait to go back one day.

Now that I am back in Melbourne I am keen as mustard to do some kiting. I live near the beach in Patterson lakes. But the conditions have been off shore and not much wind.

I can't seem to be able to find a spot over next 7 days. Different forecasts say different things.
I am on holidays now so I would love some tips on how to more accurately read these forecasts.

Rosebud looks ok ish tomorrow from my understanding. Everything else does not seem to have enough wind iris offshore.
St kilda sounds too crowded. But maybe.

Where else would I look?

Thanks in advance.

Ps I am so surprised just how helpful all the kiters have been. Greatful for all of it.
Ps. Ps I only got an 11 meter crazy fly but it gets me going at 12-13 knots plus

Mentone can be OK in an easterly as long as not too far east. Ricketts Point is also OK but not for someone just starting out. Next pack a lunch and head to Altona, check with the locals at each spot to get the low down on where to kite, watch out for dogs at Altona sorry couldn't help myself...

Sorry smithy but neither mentone or Ricketts work in an easterly.
Possibly mentone in a SSE but would be I very gusty.
To the OP : your best bet will be in westernport bay.... Eg: Pt Leo
Altona can be disable in a E but also tends to get a bit gusty.

Cheers for the info.

Went to check out Rosebud yesterday, looks like a greats spot if wind is that way.

Today might try carrum / Mordialoc way.
