Nope, no kiting at Werribee.

Werribee South has grass areas for set up though. Only minimal beach area for launching, even at low tide.

Ice, that's a fair point... Werribee looks a little.... land locked.

Nonsense. Kiting is done at the northern end of Werribee beach all the time and guys even cross over the river side to the sand bar and back. Best launch spot is at the end of the beach huts, but watch out for bricks under the sand. Booties essential.

G'day... I have been kiting down Werribee South Beach for 4 Years.. and Windsurfing there for about 20 years...
I don't want to say its a great spot but its a great spot. It has the best landing area near the river mouth straight onto grass. You land it just behind bushes and it great when you are solo. There are plenty of places to Launch. It is 10 times wider than Altona.
The great thing about Werribee South is you can kite there on a Westerly and NW. In a NW it is bloody awesome really flat and shallow on the other side of the river. Awesome freestyle and speed runs right up to the edge of the beach.

You can do an awesome downwinder from past the new marina around Point Cook and into Altona, highly recommended on a SW...

Just Stay away from the river as there are boats coming in and out of there. Plus the Fisherman get pretty territorial.

I love Kiting at Altona but it gets crowded... funny enough by the guys from the other side of the bay... I have has Werribee South to myself for ages...

Good sized waves for boosting and riding near the channel marker... Cool place...

Cheers Al

No theres plenty of room... The funny thing is most of the guys at Altona cant self launch or land so I am not worried at all... ha ha

Its funny its kind of like Point Henry... Its a secret spot that everyone knows about but rarely go there... Geelong riders don't attack me just the truth, Torquay is not very far....

Don't you mean Campbells Cove ?

The launch area there would be a lot bigger than the one i saw at Point Henry on Saturday ( size of a postage stamp).
It's shallow for about 100 mtrs out from shore when the tide is right, fished around there for years on a kayak.
Only problem there is that its a gazetted nudist beach and nothing even remotely attractive gets their togs off .

Often a conversation has happened kinda like this
"listen mate, if you don't get moving I'll shove this paddle sideways up your @$$"
