Beginner, starting to go upwind but still doing the walk of shame if there are waves.

90kg, 12m kite and 9m kite.

Happy to go anywhere from Balnarring/Rosebud through to Brighton. Though I have never actually kited at Brighton before.

If the forecast is anything to go by, 25kts Westerly would be good for Rosebud, cross onshore, nice and flat with lots of beach space.

I'd say use your 9M, see what others have up as well in case you're overpowered on the 9M.

If I wasn't working I'd be there.

Thanks Sammyjay, I went for a look at Aspendale earlier but it didn't look like a lot of fun for me, directly onshore and those waves....

I think I will hold off until tomorrow and try for Balnarring in the forecast SW first thing. I really like the flater water.

I will try Rosebud in a westerly sometime though. I thought there was a safety concern about that spot in a westerly? Perhaps just that westerlies tend to be gusty?

I'm not aware of safety issues for Rosebud in a westerly perhaps others know?. I'm a beginner and kite there ok. The wind was a bit patchy but the direction was cross onshore so as long as you can stay upwind you'll be fine. If you cant well you can just body drag or walk back up.

Rosebud was awesome today
Although would be half hour of awesome wind
15 mins of nothing but was on the water about 5-6 hrs
Pitty the wind went offshore wen the tide went out and the water was so flat, definitely somewhere I will be going again

At Balnarring you need to find the Westernport Yacht club. About 100m up the beach (East) from there is a sign that says 'kiteboard rigging area' or something like that. I haven't been there in a SW yet but it is great in SE. From the map it looks like it wouldn't be much good if the wind is any more west than SW.
