Hi all,
Where's the best place to get winds for kite boarding this time of year?

Live in St Kilda but looking for spots I can head to over the weekends to try get some winds.

Thanks

Hey fella,if u google kitesurfing Victoria heaps of info comes up, sorry to state the obvious,.

In general rosebud in northwinds, heaps of spots in east, south and west, part of the fun is finding them, good tip for finding wind is wind willy and wind guru.

Sandy Point/ Shallow Inlet is pretty good. You can kite there on almost any direction and there's usually a bit of wind but can get pretty gusty.
Awesome flat water spot, especially on a southerly. I've never kited the waves but it's doable, or you can drive the extra half an hour to Wilson's Prom.

The only drawback is it's ~2 hours drive away. But definitely worth a weekend trip in my opinion (my parents do live 20mins away though so I'm a little biased).

As an aside, what is the best forecast (and/or live wind reading) to use for Sandy Point?

Thanks

I should have declared where I got the map from. It was not my work. I believe it originated from here:

I usually go off the Yanakie read out in the Victoria East Coast Graphs for the live weather and for the forecast I try to use WillyWeather or windguru.

I've found this thread www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Victoria/Sandy-point-predictions/ to be a good resource.
