Not enough interest? Not enough gov support? Not enough people putting their money where their mouths are more like it!
Great shame really.
Not likely to have another one anytime soon either.
*sigh*... I envy QLD. They have THREE of them!

i went to the cable at Carribean gardens twice. First time was good fun.. second time it got kind of boring being only a two point cable going back and forth over a fairly short run isnt so much fun after a while. The guy running it was a champ and taught me quite a bit in such a short period of time as i had not really used many cable parks.

i think it was fairly expensive for what it was... i guess if there are not massive crowds turning up they would have to charge a bit more to sustain the business or prehaps if they lowered the prices and made it more affordable people would have shown up and returned again? i think i would have gone again if it was cheap.
I proper cable in Melbourne would be awsome.. Albert Park? Cherry lake?

not sure if it would be sustainable as a business our winters are crap and is there really enough interest in the sport to cover the cost of setting up and running a proper cable?

Yeah. I've tried Cairns Ski park and it is f^%^g awesome! A great way to learn board control and tricks before kite control.

it failed as it was just a 2.0 system. there was no point in going, i went one day, spent 95 bucks and got about 30-40 mins riding and never thought about going again. good on them for trying to set it up, and it was really fun, but to be sustainable you need the full wake park where 10 people can ride at once, and it can take 40 people before getting busy.

Over the last week i went to cairns cable ski, which in a small place was fairly busy and sustainable as it is a great set up and was 190 for a week, in which i got about 6 hours riding every day.

if anyone ever makes it to Phuket then def go the cable ski they have there, its seriously the most professional place i went to in whole country, great set up and like everything else in Thailand, dirt cheap.

if someone looking into starting one up def get some tips from what they have over there.

I would love to set one up in Altona, who has a few spare $$$?
Cheery lake wouldnt work though, its too affected by wind.

Yeah!

But not sure about your wind comment. The one I went to in Cairns can cop a lot of wind too, but then again they have a housing estate to one side, a montain to the other and nothing to the left. In fact I felt the "on shore" wind when I turned the corner at the ski park riding up wind. It was still manageable though.

All I need now is $$$ and blue prints! Oh and "permission" from the council... Damn! I forgot that they love ducks, swans and dog owners, not to mention walkers, cyclists and locals fishing. Nah... too many hurdles unfortunately.

About 15 years ago a friend of mine windsurfed Cherry lake for a laugh. His wetsuit changed colour where it got wet, it literally left tide-lines up to the knees
