^^^ +1

I realise it's a volunteer-based body and so I want to be respectful to all involved, but yes, a brief notice of activity on here would surely be good for attracting potential members as well as keeping people informed.

Most important, if u are having a bit of spair time and want to actively participate in developing KBV, you are more than welcome to attend to any of our monthly meetings. Please send me a PM and I can give you futher info.

Folks - apologies for lack of information - first a clarification: A few years ago the committee decided that public forums were useful to disseminate information but were only occasionally monitored for public/member opinion etc - generally responses to direct questions like "what do you want form KBV" went uncommented and so forum information gathering was also abandoned.

Also the anonymous nature of seabreeze lead to a significant amount of time and effort being used to combat vexatious and sometimes totally incorrect accusations as well as devisive debates and discussions - something that we decide to out out of, instead using a direct facilitation presence for open discussions such as we did at St Kilda beach regarding the issue of beginners versus experienced kiters and the way the schools used the available area.

The past season for KBV was a also busy one where we saw a new alliance with the yachting community - at the same time the committee was reduced to a bare minimum as some volunteers could no longer dedicate time to important committee matters - correspondingly we have sllipped up on some administrative and rekated matters and will be abl;e to make some aoosciated announcements ON THE KBV SITE in due course.

Most of this information was posted to the KBV site (as ehadlines) and can be seen by clicking on the link to the headline archives, other related documents are availabel in Document & Forms - the rest will be posted as completed and approved as we move forward.

Please contact us directly (via the KBV web site) if you have any related questions.

Seabreezers assume that this forum is an official place for KSA's to make announcements and answer questions.

Wrong!!

This forum tends to get nasty and bitter and demoralises the volunteers.

Send them an email.

Bigwavedave is correct - if you want to contact any organisation surely the first place to go would be their web site???

So from the sounds of things - this section of seabreeze -

which is titled Victoria / KBV - and at the top of the section has welcome to KBV forum -

is probably incorrectly titled (if KBV dont check or post here)?

It's the Victorian forum, for discussing matters regarding Victorians. I'm honestly not sure why it's got KBV in the title aside from that KBV are the representative body for Victorian kiteboarders/kitesurfers.

KBV have their own website with their own discussion forum. They also have their own contact details.
Despite what some people like to think, Seabreeze isn't the epicentre of Australian kitesurfing.

From the very top of the Victoria / KBV forum

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/Victoria/Welcome-to-the-KBV-Seabreeze-Forum/

This welcome suggests to anyone that this is definitely the area where you would go for KBV related queries????

In saying that the details look to be from 2008?

Hi Everyone,

My name is Derek and I am new to the KBV committee this year and will be supporting KBV primarily around our communications and events. That means you might see posts on this forum going forward from me, on behalf of KBV.

On a couple of points raised in this thread. Yes there is a lot happening at the moment with KBV. Apologies for the delays in getting this information out to you all. We have had a busy winter with some of our regular volunteers being away and with a number of new committee members joining. Right now, we are in the process of confirming a number of items for the 2011-2012 season including our:

- KBV events calendar for 2011 / 12
- improving how we keep you up to date and how we collect member/non-member feedback
- new innovative ideas around improving our sport across the state

We'll be communicating these updates and looking for your feedback in the next few weeks. Thanks to all who have sent in suggestions for 2011 / 12 - please keep them coming.

In regards to some of the points on this thread, our ability to monitor this site regularly has slipped over the last few weeks/months due to lack of manpower. Going forward, we will be monitoring this thread more frequently.

Also - as mentioned above, our current policy to date has been to use Seabreeze for posting updates and not for discussion. As the new KBV committee beds in, we will be revisiting this policy as well as looking at better ways to collect feedback/input and to get KBV updates out.

For the moment, feedback and queries are best directed to [email protected] or through our website.

Please bear with us a just a few more weeks while we finalise our 2011-2012 plan. Lots of news to come - watch this space!

Thanks,
KBV
[Derek]

Seeing as this is not an official site for any KSA maybe the site owner could rename the forum to Victorian Forum.

It's funny how seabreezers think that this website is the hub of all kiting information. In my experience it is the exact opposite with a large proportion of discussions being derogatory and inflammatory.

That was my exact point Dave.

For people new to this forum - and it notes at the top - "Welcome to the KBV Seabreeze Forum" - I would expect that I could come here and get ALL news KBV without having to go elsewhere.

Maybe that's an issue to be solved by the forum owner.

I know when I was on the AKSA committee, seabreeze was the last place I visited. Too much negative moaning, rumour-mongering and plain hate.

This sport is amazing for the amount of whining. The biggest whiners were the people who weren't even members!!
