i am 55 and trying to learn strapless. Mucked around for months with surf boards and then got an axis new wave. Awesome so easy to learn on. With the full deck grip and recessed deck its so easy to water start and turn. Loving life again
Good work pgc. I tried strapless a couple of time... and I'm not saying I didn't do very well at it, but I did spend more time off the board than on...
Great work there is something about strapless that is just plain fun. The straps came off my surfboard a couple of months back and have not been put back on. Just have to wax the board a lot more.
That Axis New wave board is the updated version of the underground Kipuna (which was a suprisingly good board, very versatile and unbreakable). How do you rate?

The Kipuna's aren't unbreakable - just a lot more robust than the poly and epoxy boards!! As you can see in my avatar Im riding one and its starting to show signs of stress (I have made repairs to keep it going a bit longer).
According to Adrian (now Axis) they played around with different densities of foam in the kipuna - I may have an earlier 2012 version with less dense foam.
The Axis board above - new wave, is a refined version of the Kipuna and when I finally kill mine that's what I'm planning on replacing it with. Great to ride, easy on the knees and yes I boost on mine all the time!!
The sunken deck ( I call mine the biscuit tray!!) just make it a great ride - of course if you are a dedicated surfer you will find this board strange at least at first!!
PGC - Ive been thinking of pulling the straps off cuz sometimes they seem to get in the way but I love boosting so much .......
