Hey i may not be a girl but i am new to kiteboarding, had lessons down at StKilda and picked up my gear today so I'm keen to get out there with another beginner so i don't look so **** in comparison to everyone else, so your interested, let me know
Great that you guys are going to be riding together!
Just one thing... Don't be shy to ask the guys/gals on the beach, that seem advanced, for pointers. Don't be the ones who have no idea what they're doing. Not in this sport ;)
+1 on above Also, don't be afraid to go back to the school you learnt at (say, hi, I had lessons through you guys and bought my gear through you) and ask for tips.
You might be struggling with something that a simple piece of advice (30 seconds of someone's time) will result in you saving hours of working it out yourself. For example, I wasn't going upwind super well. An experienced hand gave me one tip (imagine your girlfriend/boyfriend hottest person in the world is up on that kite, push your hips towards her) and it was the best (and funniest) advice I received.
Hey I'm hoping to get down after work on friday, probs around 6pm. I have a 12m red Naish kite with a white board, so feel free to come chat, more experienced people probably want to keep a good 20m away out on the water though...
Be sure to say gday to me too, a fellow noob. I'm planning to fail dismally at backrolls tonight and tomorrow so faceplants are imminent. Should be easy to spot me! Haha, 2012 LF Envy, black and white wetty. Always looking to make new kiting buddies.
I m Caroline, a frenchie girl of 24yo, I m new in the sport as well and i m going to Melbourne for 12 days OFF from the 27 of february! I bring my gear with me, and i hope to find some buddies to kite with, and to looking after each other! Obviously, i hope to have good wind as well! I can kite everyday and all the day ;) i want to improve myself to enjoy the sport!! I did my courses few weeks ago in Perth, but i don't practice a lot after. So my kite keep crashing :/ I probably do a complementary lesson before, do you have a school to advise me? And what size of kite do you have? I have a 9m Ocean Rodeo.
I am not kiting at present due to broken leg (cycling collision) but I can hobble. I might come down to St Kilda on Friday to say hello and maybe provide some tips.
If you see someone limping around slowly, that will be me. I will also wear a fluoro green cap.
We Kite Republic in St Kilda have a kite boarding club with heaps of events that will help you out to meet people on different levels from newbies to experienced riders.
Next Tuesday 4th of March we are having our monthly club night at Republica (St Kilda Sea baths). Free entry... just pop up into the shop and say hello...
Hey guys just wondering if you are out and about the mordialloc/ mentone areas often. Had about 5 lessons and am looking for some people to head down with in the evenings or days off to get some practice. Really just looking for some people to go out with and find out what's what in this area when's good etc etc. I have a 9meter and a 12mtr and would like to be getting out more often. Anyways if u are someone or know someone who wouldn't mind a bit of I a tag along, the help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Hi all, I live in St Kilda and am looking for some buddies!!! I've bought my gear and am amping to get going..... unfortunately the wind has not been so favourable for my free lesson so I am looking for fellow beginners to go out and have a laugh and get up and get riding.
the best thing you can do is head down to Sandy Point on a weekend, it's a 2-1/2 hour drive but it is absolutely worth it. And since winter is coming dont miss Rosebud on N winds either.
We can arrange a trip soon if anyone keen, I got 2 places available on my car.
I'm absolutely keen on Rosebud at the weekend sometime. In fact any time there's N Wind. I've only been down there once but was so good! I haven't been able to get out much recently either as I'm stuck in St Kilda with no transport and only one kite at the moment.
