I am relocating to WA and it looks like I will be living near the Clarkson / Yanchep area. Are there kiting spots near here that are any good? Or is it a trip further North or South?

Yeah, heaps, I live in Alkimos.

There are heaps on spots with no one around.

Alot of crew just hit quins, but i dont rate quins much. Its great for quick fix but thats about it.

Emepty beachers north of Jindalee.

If you want waves go north lad.

Hit me up when you move accross and we will take you on a downwinder between Lanno and Wedge.

Its been rated as the best downwinder in Australia by every kiter thats completed it.

looking for a kiter that wants to do a downwinder.... I am in kinross and kite at mullaloo about the best spot.... but wanna do a run from quins to jindallee or yanchep

Underoath has it pretty spot on. Plenty of spots (4wd will help though until alkimos is really developed), friendly people and uncrowded beaches. Best stretch of coast in the perth area.

An hour and an easy drive to Lancelin or 20min to pinnaroo where you can kite with the crowds

Lanno Wedge > Point Moore to Corro.

Greenough to Point More would be good, but lacking the length.

Always wanted to kite Dummonds point tho.

Is the Alkimos beach beginner friendly, i.e. no rocks, reef, other kiters to crash headfirst into?

I'm just learning (had lessons and now trying to get on board). I live in Jindalee but usually go to Pinaroo as its relatively flat water and no rocks etc. Only problem is the crowds of kiters that go there now.

Also it would be great to be able to kite somewhere closer to home.

Went for a swim this arvo and as you go into jindalee carpark there is a beach / bay a 100m or so north but you'd need to be a good kiter as you cant walk around the headland and if you fk up you'll end up dragged along the shallow reef in front of the rocks.

Immediately past those rocks Alkimos beach starts and you've got a km+ of sandy beach to yourself. Need a 4wd or its a good 15min walk from chippies cafe. Heaps of 4wds fishing when its nice weather but fairly quiet midweek when its 20knots.

Edit: Maybe kiting is a possibility on the northern side of the dog beach at quinns as it just sandy beach all the way to jindalee beach and you could park at the park on ocean drive

Between mindarie and two rocks there are a few options and plenty of space. Lots of sharks around those reefs and ghosts from the wreck may help

Also saw 3 of 4 of those paragliders(?) launch at jindalee. Great arvo for it

I might head down there Sat arvo if the wind looks good.

Saturday arvo is Lanno to Wedge time, send me a message if your keen. It will be a day trip with around 10 other kiters.

Probably not a good idea if you are learing, as we head out a few kms to the outer reefs.

Yup, appreciate the offer but I'll pass on this one. When I get a few more sessions under my belt and I'm confident on the board I'll definately be up for a downwinder.
