Melville Beach Rd is the usual spot but there are other spots nearby like Point Walter.

Cheers

Hi Kite Killer , Ok to launch anywhere along the kite area . Prob keep away from the big gum tree. Generally beginners having lessons go to the north of the kite area ..

Main problem when launching is the wind is crappy close to shore. Also kiters ( not only kooks) not checking their lines properly before launching.

I have found the best strategy for launching is to walk as far away from the beach into the water as possible when you launch. Even get the launcher to walk into the water as well to get cleaner wind. If you have left your board on the beach to launch ask the person who launched you to bring it out to you rather that you walking in. If you need to walk close the shore make sure you keep your kite over the water rather than over the road. .. we are a pretty friendly bunch so you shouldnt have any problems doing this.

There is little room for error here so double check your lines and set up before giving the thumbs up to launch.

Most importantly don't launch ( or kite) at Melville when its on-shore ( Westerly) .. That's when its most dangerous . Crappy wind , small beach etc. no room for error.

Otherwise enjoy :)
