we could start placing identifying number on kites linked to waksa mambership, this will allow the identification of each individual rider not wether or not they are a member. we have had this in sailing for years to identify who was in what position with races, in this instance it could be similar to number plates as it tries to instigate some sort of social responsibility.
Nice one Punchy! I have always thought this would be a good idea. The only problem I can see with having a number on the kite is that you would need to go through a whole palava if you want to sell your kite, ie: changing over the number to your new kite or transferring the ownership of that number to the new owner. This wouldn't be that bad if the kite was sold through a shop, but if it was sold in the quokka or something some dodgy characters could just skip it. It would also lead to having to have multiple numbers for one person if he/she had more than one kite.
I think some kind of tag you can velcro to your spreader bar would be a good idea though. Then each person could have a unique number and an expiry date, more like a rego sticker for your car than a number plate. What do you think?
