where did you buy the gear ? Ebay ?

I would suggest going and buying a hanglider without knowing how to use it and then come back and give us a report

LOL dusta

Nottsy, if you weren't so defensive, you'd see dusta's got a point. Plus, if you "have the gear just don't know how to use it" - how do you even know if you've got the right/safe kit for you and conditions?

BTW, there's a big difference between proper structured lessons and what you're asking for. When you ask for free lessons, it sure shows you don't put too high a price the safety of yourself or others around you...

Nottsy, standing out in the noonday sun in Karratha in summer, for about 6 hours spread over several days, is probably not gonna happen for free. If you can get someone to do it for money, you will have done well. And personally, I wouldn't even blow the kite up without an instructor nearby. Yes, you do need an instructor, but you probably also need someone who is serious and is gonna charge.

Free lessons, I hope your "INSTRUCTOR" has INSURANCE cause if you stuff up and injure someone or even injure the student and say break their neck example land head first into a tree or dunes I bet your student or innocent bystander will be going after someone to help pay your medical costs!!

There must be a few kiters with experience teaching in Karratha with nothing better to do on their time off when there is wind after all no one lives in Karratha for the money I think you will be better off paying for lessons dazza

Head down to the palms when a westerly is blowing and there will be people down there. Most people will be in the water but im sure someone will be able to help you a little. Your best bet would be to buy a trainer kite and practice with that first before you even think about getting in the water with all the gear and no idea...Oh and watch out for the hammerhead who lives in the harbour :)
