I was there last week. Kited once out the front of the Open space(big oval) at Dampier. Very shallow. Was windy at the carpark, really dead on the water. Wouldn't recommend it. Do a search on this site. There are a coupla other places ppl mention. I think the best option is to aquire/befriend a boat and go check out the archipeligo islands.

Good luck

I had a go around 6 weeks ago just south of the Dampier sailing club (opp. a big oval) - I think the same location as 'roast. The tide was full and it was an awesome kitesurf. Wind was a steady ~ 20 knots with only small chop and no crowds! Speaking to a couple locals after, apparently winter or the 'dry season' has steady and fairly constant winds. In late Oct/early Nov the winds can drop off but then can pick up over summer.

Goodluck and see you up there over summer!
