Not sure who Dave is. But can you please explain how this happened a little more?
I was in the water getting my board on with the kite at 12 when a guy came through at high speed from behind and wrapped his kite around mine. Suspect he was part of a lesson as I didn't see a board and there were a few people on the beach with him. I was too pissed off to ask rational questions afterwards.
Anyway somehow one of the kites got stuck about 10 and in the window, and kept yanking us both out of the water. I released my safety but thanks to the tangle the tension stayed on. Given my complete lack of control and still being dragged along strongly I released the kite completely as I figured otherwise I'd be hitting the shore at some point at high speed. I'd hoped the kites would crash but it wasn't to be.
I'm interested to know what else I could have done in that situation, though I hope it doesn't happen again. I'm also going to start looking for some quieter places to kite.
