Hi guys, im planning a trip to the south west , around margaret river area, in april. Im from the east and not familiar with the average wind speed and directions for that time of year. I have 2 kites, a 9m and 11m, but only can take 1. Also any good spots to go. I promise i wont tell anyone. Cheers.

I am also heading to WA in April.... Perth to Exmouth ( End April )

I have 12m ( Cabrinha) or 11m,9m or 7m Slingshot Fuel

Looks like 9m would be more versatile, right?

i'll be there next week for the month of March. Am also interested in any 411 on locations, sizes, etc. I've kited the main break and gas bay a couple years ago in april and i recall the winds dying off pretty quick in the month. what's the typical conditions for March? i'm planning on bringing my 7m/10m rebel and surf board and twin.

also...who's got the best advice for launching landing at main break? I've gone upwind at gnarabup and then downwinded into the lineup due to proximity to house but i'd prefer to ride straight from the main beach. i did see another post regarding taking out on the north end of the rivermouth, that was helpful input (thanks).

Down in Margs and the south coast during Autumn (March / April) the sea breezes aren't as strong and the LARGOS (late arvo glass off) can be a real killer. If you're kiting down that way, get out around 2 or 3 in the afternoon when there is a seabreeze, and by 4pm, be really careful as the seabreeze can just drop right out and it swings offshore. (sick for late arvo surf sessions though).
Exmouth / Geraldton etc is more likely to have a lot more consistent onshore winds than the SW / S coastline.
Lots of spots down on the southern margs coastline like Borranup and Conto's beaches (launch further north on Contos, not right in the corner in the wind shadow). North of Margs are lots of massive rocky headlands, narrow beaches and unforgving shallow reefs - steer clear unless you know the breaks really well and are comfortable kiting pretty serious size surf.
Kite size depends how much of a fat bastard you are!
