As far as I am aware this is big no no. What's story with crew routinely trying to grab the drivelling shorebreak in this area. I have pics of several kiters doing this. This behaviour is certainly ban material.

people make mistakes .... i helped a guy out today and landed up inbetween the flags at floreat by mistake a appologised to the life gaurds, but there where no swimmers in the water.

It was super windy, hardly anyone on the beach, it's just that a precedent get's set. As far as mistakes are concerned, it is no longer a valid excuse in this modern litigious society. If you eject a kite into swimmer's etc you will be fully liable, even worse if it is a no go area.

Part of problem is that a lot of self taught kiter's are unaware of local rules. They probably are not even aware of WAKSA's existence. WAKSA membership should be compulsory subject to checks by local SLSC. If you break the rules you lose your membership and essentially right to kite. It is a small cost vs cost of full kit etc.

Maybe some volunteers/reps from waksa could setup around city's/brighton & spread some awareness/rules/ safety advice to kiters on the busy days ?? Just an idea

I think that will help, but there are still a lot of douchbags around that don't give a f**k about anyone but themselves, plus you get the euros who are only here for a week or so.

Yeah I've noticed, it's pretty quiet out there. My local - seal island, off Hillaries used to get 30+ windsurfers on a good day, now I get the place to myself (And Noah)..
