Well I'm jealous as I have to drive over 100km round trip to get to our sailing site

If you have any, post some pics of your blokarts sailing as we seem to be dominating the photo's section with class 5's, yet this forum is as much for Blokarts as it is for others.

yes hills many of the local guys are jealous about me living at the beach and i often have to provide "on the beach"wind and tide reports for the fellas who have a bit of a drive to get here.With up to 6m of tidal run we can have a 6 hour sail on a section of beach approx. 2km x 300m although we have been confining our races to the northern 1/3 or so of the beach as we do have to share it with the other beachgoers and their ***** dogs.I will post some photos soon and hope to have a short movie on u-tube which one of our members made,with the help of his workmate" a local news camera man and his $60k camera" not a bad result with a bit of POWDERFINGER for the soundtrack.And yes Dave i have a real passion for landsailing it's just that blokarts have a real following here but mate i would never profess that they are superior in anyway maybe just a bit more practical for our conditions .Being small enough to carry on a plane as luggage is also a huge benefit allowing travel anywhere with your kart at your side,great.I look forward to sailing in yachts like yours to reach speeds over 100km/hr would be awesome,my personal best so far is 75km/hr on the beach in approx.25kts with a 3m sail, reaching this speed just before having to go into flat out gybe to miss the rocks,definetly a rush! speeds of over 100k's i've gotta have a go at that!.Impossible here in a blokart but we manage to give ourselves a fright every so often.Average speeds around 60ish which is really enough on our short courses,especially with three karts side by side into a turn,hair raising sometimes!Wheel balancing now becoming an issue for smooth running in some karts.Bucasia Beach possibly seconded only by beaches at Yeppoon and then only in length not width or sand quality?But then again i am a bit biased being born here,so i do feel blessed,only wish i discovered landsailing years ago!Awesome looking yachts in Sandgropers photo section,more variety than i ever imagined,fantastic!

G'day Stevo, I read with great interest your stories of north Qld and full-on fun days with over 15 karts on YOUR beach, way cool. We're having a little trouble locating a specified track site here in Brisbane, but we're looking at every possibility to get this club up and racing. Would love to trip up your way for a try with the NQ gang and there are a couple of other Brisvegas Blokarters willing to head north.
Lee and myself put on a static display (high tide 'bugger') at Sandgate on Sat 15.12.07 near the Kite sufers demo day and had a constant stream of interested people of all ages taking flyers and jumping aboard for a skippers perspective. I'll post a couple of photos in the gallery, you'll see the wind was blowing but nowhere to run.
I found the coolest front tyres that have flames as the tread pattern from a Babyco store, they are off the Beemer pram and at $15 each are a good buy. Not to knock the ridgey didge tyres from Blokart, but these were just to cool to pass and then there's a white wall as well.

Brett,anytime you and your mates want to head up this way just let me know you can rest assured you will be most welcome and have a ready made group of friends just come when the tide's out and the wind is up,too easy ha!Have just spent the weekend away camping at a beach just north of Mackay with four other karters ,familiar story for most of the time but,"great fishing weather" bummer! we did manage a couple of good hours sailng saturday afternoon and a bit at night with lights on our karts and solar garden lights for markers,great,just a little bit scary!Myself and a couple of the other guys have had a few displays at local car shows with an amazing amount of interest,we have even won "club display" for one show and the karts ended up in quite a few photos with young wanna be pilots, we always have a ball when out promoting karting.Some of our photos are on blokart.com.au.Those fronts sound interesting,i have actually had a few split and pop on me,luckily at slow speed,the edge of the rim seemed rough and with the appliction of a bit of sand it was wearing through the bead!hopefully sanding of the rim has fixed that?We are also on the hunt for some land in town with a few areas suitable but as far as access goes,? at this stage.I will post some photos of our beach meets as well. regards stevo. wind in your sail
