Was in NZ recently seeing family and friends. Driving down the North Island passing thru palmerston north,was stopped at a intersection and saw 4 blowies tearing around a park.With about 13,000 in circulation around the world you are going to run into blokarters anywhere you go.Not much grass where i sail, but you can sail them anywhere theres room and wind

I have often wondered how rubbery the 13000 yachts number is?...
Many years ago I owned Laser 13111, and that was also a worldwide class and most yacht clubs around Australia had 3 or more sailing.
While I acknowledge the blokart is great little yacht with those numbers there should be large groups sailing everywhere, every weekend.
Yet you seem surprised to see 4 sailing together in its country of origin?
If you actually do the calculations of 13000 yachts over 9 years =1444 / year av. and if they work 5 days a week for 50 weeks of the year that makes it they build 5 or 6 a day....(Every work day since its invention) while not impossible could the total be a bit of a sales pitch?

I must say that I've never heard the 13,000 figure before. The last one I heard was 6,000 to 7,000 although I know they have been selling like hot cakes in Europe.
As for the sail numbers, I know that some yachts start their sail number at a high point, but to the best of my knowledge blokarts don't. One of the guys in our club has sail number 2.
