Hello Guys
I have been looking a lot at land yachts , or actually the mini land yachts for having some fun when I do not have time to drive 1hr - 1h30 to my nearest sailing club. I have a field near my house and looking for something small to have fun on.
I have an idea and don't know if it has been tried and failed before, but here goes. The reason I do not want to go for a 3 wheeled land yacht is that I want the opportunity to hike out as if on my dinghy and be more hands on with tuning the sail in wind shifts rather that the rear axle taking some of the "pressure" off capsizing
Here is my Ideas:
Two wheeled Skateboard/WindBoard platform with angled sides for sailor to sit and hike out on and give the board a heel of max 20Degrees. Using small 320mm wheels to ensure center of gravity is low and enhance balance. TO further the "dinghy feeling"
the rear wheel will pivot and act as the steering just like on a normal dinghy. For added "safety" two smaller 150mm wheels are added to the wings to ensure the board wont cartwheel when a wing touches the ground.
Please Note: I am not a designer, just a hobbyist that restores dinghies, sail them and occasionally play around with new ideas in the garage. This is only a first draft and your inputs will be much appreciated.
