The fork is 1" solid rod ....1 piece and bent with LOTS of heat from an oxy setup
The bearings in the headstem is the same as used in the wheels, so i dont have to carry as many spares.
The only other change from the plans is the sheeting tail welded on the "diamond" so it pulls up and into the corner of the holder so it won't slop around.

Nice job there Brian. A bit more thinking outside the box with your "diamond" rear attachment of the seat support/sheeting attachment.

Interesting to note your reference to "much oxy heating" of the 1" bar for the front fork. Are you one of those rare people who use an oxy set often enough to justify the annual hire of the bottles???? or was the use of it a work related "fringe benefit"????

I had a beautiful oxy set worth hundreds of dollars that I could not justify owning any longer due to bottle hire. After being unsucessful at selling it for only $50, I ended up giving it away.

So, black tyres, red wheels and yellow frame; what is the fourth colour going to be???

Gas and bottle hire..... A necessary expense in what i do.
And I need 5 different gas bottles.
Argoshield (Argon / CO2 mix ) ... MIG welding of steel and Stainless steel
Pure Argon ... MIG welding aluminium
Oxygen and Acetylene for gas welding / heating.
Not to forget the BBQ gas

With the making of the front steering I considered lighting up the "forge" but the Oxy was a little more precise for the bends and very controlable. The solid rod may have added an extra kg to the yacht... would I do it again? yes...for a LLMini

Paul what about "MildFire-as seen on computer" ???

I went to my paint supplier and said I want a bright color and thats what he came up with ... but every thing looks dull when you work in HiVis clothes.
