hi all
my name is olivier and i'm kite buggy pilot ... i'm riding also sand yacht often when I'm bringing freind new to yachting on beach and I love that !! sand yacht are faster than kite buggy and mutch more cool for arms !! :)

here's for my presentation. (sorry for my poor english speaking ... it look's that true french guy must speak english like a spanish horse if they want to get theire passeport)

now few questions about my project:
I bring several time a freind of mine and he looks verry addict to sand yacht and as he live a bit far away from beachs he hesistate to buy one so my project is to build him one for next year in november.

I'm dreaming to build "standart class" like yatch
I have few tools for steel works (TIG/MIG welding machines / PLASMA cutter) and few small skills too
I'm also kite builder and desinger and I'm not affraid about stitchn so I was thinkng to build sail with a recutted windsurf sail with help of "flying pig" tutorial that I read here (thank's to him).

Ive found a promo class seat with 2 plastic 20" wheels Iwas hoping with the help of few freinds skilled with compoit works to transform the promo seat in "standart" like seat

my questions are the folowing
as this yatch is not dedicated for competition but only for leisure
if I use a windsurf wing can I use a wind surf carbonfiber pole too ? or must I use exclusively aluminium ?

for the 2 rear axles I was thinking first using aluminium like on the true one but as I'm a bit skilled also in wood working and as the freind I'm building this for is also a tallented wood worker I'm asking myself if I can not doing these axles in laminated birch wood (used for naval wood works) (http://www.charles-acs.fr/produits/panneaux-derives/contreplaques-speciaux-aviation/contreplaques-speciaux/3066.aspx) sorry I dont find description in english
I'm using this type of laminated woods for building longskate boards and it's realy strong but may be a bit too flexible ... it's composed of wood slice of 0.5mm thik and I'm thinking use a laminated board of may be 25mm by 8 or 10 cm wide ... do you have any advice ?
I think It could be a bit more sexy that only an alluminium pole
thank's for all you advice / help on these question or on other :)

Welcome to the Forum Proff,
Spanish Horse?? Interesting, what is that about??

CF Mast is good, Windsurfer sail should be good and be full enough to produce the power needed in lower speed winds. Seat and wheels, if in good condition, should be suitable as well. From experience I would suggest that stiffer axles should be used.. It appears that my CF axles are a little too flexible and flex heavily in gusty conditions causing Occum's Razor to veer/swerve quite sharply under gusts. They offer a softer more comfortable ride on rougher surfaces. When building use your head and logic's as trade offs must be thought about i.e. softer axles give comfort, stiffer less comfort but greater stability- to a point-.
If in doubt put the question to the forum and then develop a final answer for yourself, you will be presently surprised at how close your own thoughts will match those of your peers.

we are prettty hopeless with other languages, sorry about that.
CF mast yes of course , its rather an obvious development.
with the wooden axle ,again yes of course you can, they work just fine.on some of our minis we are usingplanks 20mm thickand 200mm wide,on a yacht the size of a class 5I would probably use 2 laminations of that size, but have a look what they are using at youlocal beach. also have a look at what timber they are using locally, perhaps cut down an old or broken axle to start with.
and have fun!!!!!!
cheers ,the flying pig
