How are you all

I currently live in Kooralbyn but Im in the proccess of moving to Hervey Bay

I'm married with 5 kids 2 girls 18 & 16, 3 boys 14, 4 & 3 only my boys live at home now that means no more horses

A few years back I started looking for a new hobby/sport Dirt Karting, ultralight flying, and landsailing a few others and never started any of them, by the time I paid for the 5 kids I was left with a very small wallet

So now there has been a few changes and a few in the pipeline (slightly larger wallet LOL)

How did I end up here well remember a few years back looking for a hobby!!

On my favorites was a link for a build your own landsailer/dirtboat but the idea of hacking one of the girls bikes to bits really didn't appeal to me much (my wife wasn't impressed much either)

Now the other day I was cleaning up my computer and noticed the link and thought to myself I wonder if I could look around an get better plan to build a land yacht (I still don't have a big enough wallet to buy a sirocco sprint or a blowkart) Google to the rescue

I found pictures of Blowkarts and sirrocco sprints ok these are resonably nice and carry a nice size price tag to Hmmmmm!

Then by chance and the magic of GOOGLE I found Pauls posting on here "Build a Landyacht." Hold the phone!!

I'm in!! After reading Paul's post till around 2.30am this morning MATE!!

I have found my hobby I'll do a material break down and start shopping ASAP! Can't hurt to build 1 and see how I go LOL

Anyway thank you Paul for spending time on your post

I hope I get to meet some of you here

All the best
Adrian

dont be shy to ask questions ,especially before buying something expensive or cutting it up. there are no stupid questions , only stupid mistakes.
Also dont rush the job, you might do something stupid, ouch, ouch ,ouch
( that was the sound of an expert reflecting on a day wasted.)

Adriank,
I’m an ex member of the Sangropers Land Yacht Club in WA and I also live in Hervey Bay. I was also thinking of building a land yacht and taking sailing up again. I have noticed the beaches, at low tide, in Hervey Bay have a reasonably hard surface suitable for land yachts. Could be worth while sounding out the council for a permit to race.

Further to my last, the official stance of Queensland Police regarding any land yacht of any brand or design is that they are a "Wheeled Recreational Device" as are skate boards, and, as such are permitted to be utilised in any park or public recreation area of which any beach is one of.

If anybody challenges your use of a land yacht in a park or on a beach quote the above and tell them to go away and to stop harrassing you.

Cheers Cisco

G'day matey
Forget about Hervey Bay for beach sailing. Head north and come up to Yeppoon. We have the absolute best beach in Australia for sand yachting. Try and picture this, a beach of hard sand (really hard sand) almost 20 Klms long and about 300 meters wide at low tide. At the northern end is a glorious natural bay with golden sand. Best of all, there is almost no-one on it. When I finish building my C5, all you will see will be a distant sail as I fly up the beach. The distant sail will be Cisco as he tries to catch up with me. When the wind is up, this is the beach to reach the magic 100 kph and more.

Building 2 makes it cheaper. so get your heads together and get on with it boys. Being male we CAN multitask you know. I know I can do all the tasks needed to build a yacht AND drink beer AND talk to people AND dream about the best sailing AND drink more beer...................
