Hi,

My friend and I are coming from the UK in May next year for a two week buggy adventure in WA and are deciding where to go.

I've suggested 80 Mile Beach because I initially wanted to buggy the entire length but I have since been advised that only a 30km stretch is suitable. I've looked on GoogleEarth and there appears to be a very large flat area off the beach and directly opposite the Sandfire roadhouse. It looks like salt.
Does anyone have any thoughts on it ?

I have put together a rough travel plan. Time is very limited. Obviously we land in Perth, then head up the coast to 80 Mile Beach on Highway 1 and buggy the beach at certain points. A few days there and on to Broome (for a swim) then head back down via the Great Northern Highway and end up at Lefroy.

If anyone knows a better plan or some awesome place to buggy on route then I'd love to know.
The buggies are strong off-road Gobi desert bugs with high ground clearance and we would love to ride some dunes, salt lakes, beaches and good clean winds.

Browsing through this site I noticed that there is a campsite next to the lake at Lefroy.
Is this open year round ?
Can we just turn up and buggy or do we need to be members of a club ?
Also what's the weather and wind typically like in May ?

It's sounds great! So many lakes to explore. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop on GoogleEarth. Never been buggied! Shame. We will have to change that.

You're more than welcome to try my kite buggy if we get there. :)

Here's a picture of my friends bug. Mine is pretty much the same but without the monster rear suspension.





We will be running BFLs on the the back and Midi on the front. Hopefully this should be OK if we come across any soft patches.

We will be sure to email you when we land and know when we will be on the lakes.
