I think they will need the height to hit ice ridges at speed. my concern would be the massive suspension on the rear will dampen the rear too much. the other consideration is the lack of reefability. you would want to make sure that you had a blokart like rig with good flexibility. maybe a sail that reefs down using less sections of mast
Hi Guys, It looks like my pic's etc are gone. Not a prob as it is awhile since I looked in to give some lip to landyacht etc.
Looking at the footage I am inclined to agree with Landyacht a good machine need the rigidity in the rear end to get the maximum out of the sail. I reckon that those Carbon Masts I used for axles would be great as they had both good flex and rigidity. I think if I were to build I'd modify Okum's Razor by Raising the Axle down angle by probably 4 deg' or so and and use pivots to mount the ski's on. That would lift the Hull about 300 to give reasonable ground clearance and with the same sails set I had I'd be game enough to try it at around 30kmph. Cripes with those sort of flats down their you could really go for it.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Nikrum/Ron
