A whole bunch of fun has been had recently at Baldivis with a homebuilt mini. Designed to fit in the boot of a VN Commodore (with gas tank). Back wheels are aluminium from a Suzuki motorcycle and modified a bit to remove a few spokes.
A work in progress - check out the photos section. Photos are a bit big, when I figure out how to resize them I will.

Great to see another homebuilt mini, any chance of seeing some action shots? Some construction details would also be awesome if its not stressing the relationship too far

The intention is to make another one or two so will endeavour to get progressive build photos when that happens. I'll take some action shots to post up next time we are out. Probably Sunday

I like the look of it Bazl. I am puzzled with running rigging. I see no downhaul (cunningham).??

Q. What did FONZIE say when he saw the PIG coming out of the back of the butcher shop?

A. CUNNINGHAM!!!!

More mini fun at Baldivis today. Check out the photos section

Cisco the photo of the 'AT mini' is a bit deceptive. The sheet rope is tied off at the forward end of the boom for the benefit of the photo just to give the sail a little bit of shape. In reality the sheet rope continues from the position shown down through the pulley you can see at the base of the mast. This gives a semi Cunningham effect and provides downhaul at both ends of the boom. Seems to work ok.

Well I'm rather impressed at your choice of material. the rig looks well balanced and sits at the right angles. no excessively large sails or beefy masts. You can start thiking about the improved, faster model now . Im so glad to see the Sandgropers getting into the designing mood.
More to come I hope, Im expecting big things

Gotcha there Bazl. I tried the same combined mainsheet/cunningham set up on my blokart with double blocks at the cunningham. Didn't work for me at all as any slackening of the sheet immediately depowered the sail.

Hi baz, I am curious to know who the young fella in the white T shirtis (in the mini)?
Cos he looks like my son, when he was about 14 and that was 10 years ago. Scary.
